About the Center

  • Do I have to live in Ludington to use the Ludington Senior Center?

    No. The Ludington Senior Center is one of four centers located in Mason County, and county residents or area visitors aged 50 or older are welcome to visit any of them.

  • When is the center open?

    The Ludington Senior Center is open Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except holidays), with occasional after-hours and weekend events. It is closed when Ludington Area Schools closes for inclement weather. (Call the other centers or visit their websites for hours information.)

  • Is there a membership fee to participate?

    No. Membership is free, and many programs and services are offered at low or no cost. Stop in to take a tour, register, and get a membership card to use at our check-in kiosk whenever you visit.

Activities and Programs

  • What kinds of activities and programs are offered?

    A wide variety of programs and activities is offered: fitness, arts and crafts, social gatherings, group games, educational presentations, outings, and more. 

  • Are exercise or fitness programs available for less physically active older adults?

    Yes. Low-impact exercise programs designed or modifiable for older adults are offered, such as yoga, chair exercise, Feldenkrais, Matter of Balance, and Enhance Fitness.

  • Can I bring a friend or family member with me?

    If space allows, guests of any age are welcome to accompany you. Call 231-845-6841 before you visit to ensure availability.

  • How do I find out about current or upcoming programs and events?

    Monthly activities calendars for all Mason County senior centers are published in the county’s Active for Life senior newsletter. Pick up a print publication at any center as well as at various locations throughout the county.

    Event information is also published on the community page of the Ludington Daily News in the bulletin-board and senior-center sections.

Meals and Nutrition

  • Are meals available at the center?

    Yes. Join other diners in our café on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:45 a.m. to enjoy a hot, nutritious meal provided by Mason County Senior Meals on Wheels. Donations are accepted but not expected, and no one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. A suggested donation is $5 for those aged 60+ and $6 for those under 60.

  • Is it helpful to reserve a meal in advance?

    Yes. Please call 231-845-6841 no later than 9:00 a.m. the day you would like to have lunch at the center so we can order the right number of meals. See more details and daily menus on our Congregate Meals page. 

  • Are meals available at the other senior centers in Mason County?

    Yes. Times and days of the week meals are served vary. Click here for locations, hours of operation, and contact information for each of the other three centers situated in Mason County. Call the center of your choice before you visit to confirm meal availability.

  • Are home-delivered meals (Meals on Wheels) available?

    Yes. Home-delivered meals, with specialized menus for common dietary restrictions, are available for eligible Mason County residents aged 60+ who are homebound and unable to prepare meals. For program details visit Mason County Meals on Wheels or call 231-757-4831.

  • What support services are available at or through the center?

    A range of support services is available, including information, service referrals, benefits assistance, support groups, health screenings, legal assistance, tax preparation, and more. Visit our Assistance and Care and Information and Referral pages for details.

  • Can you help me understand my Medicare or benefits options?

    Yes. We can connect you with local resources and trained volunteers who can help you understand Medicare, Medicaid, and other benefit programs.

Volunteering and Getting Involved

  • Can I volunteer at the senior center?

    Yes. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. They help with activities, office support, meals, and more. For more information, visit our Volunteer page, access the volunteer packet, and call 231-845-6841 or stop by the center and ask to speak with our volunteer coordinator to explore volunteer opportunities.

  • How can I support the senior center?

    There are many ways to show your support: participate and encourage attendance, volunteer, donate, or simply tell others about the life-affirming experiences you’ve had at the center.
