SENIOR advocacy and empowerment

This series of articles has been furnished by Susan Evans, the coordinator of Mason County Senior Services. The articles are published in a regularly recurring column in the Ludington Daily News and first appeared in the month and year indicated. The earliest articles focus on concerns Mason County seniors expressed in a June 2025 senior-services survey. Every article provides valuable information for seniors residing in Mason County.

The concept of Senior Moments with Gene Kyle was initiated by the Ludington Senior Citizens Advisory Board to educate community members and city councilors about issues affecting senior citizens and to advocate for seniors as the city plans for the future. These articles were first presented orally by Gene on the date indicated during the time allotted for public comment at Ludington City Council meetings and were later published as a courtesy by the Ludington Daily News.
