FAQs about Having Lunch at the Center

  • When is lunch served?

Lunch is served every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:45 a.m. Exceptions are for major holidays; the day of the annual Senior Expo; and closures due to inclement weather, as determined by Ludington Area Schools. And because the Mason County Senior Meals Program prepares the meals at and then delivers them from the Food Service Department at Mason County Central (MCC) Schools, when MCC closes for inclement weather, meals will not be delivered to the center even if Ludington Area Schools remains open.

  • What types of meals are served?

Nutritionally balanced hot meals include a protein, vegetable, fruit, grain, and your choice of white or chocolate 1-percent milk. Click on dates in the table above to view the menu for each day’s meals or visit the Facebook page for Mason County Senior Meals for descriptions and photos. (Please note that menus are occasionally subject to change without prior notice.)

  • What should I do if I want to have lunch at the center?

Call the center (231-845-6841) a day in advance to reserve a meal for the next day.

  • Are there any eligibility requirements?

No, other than to qualify to eat at the center at no cost, you need to be 60 years of age or older.

  • How much does a meal cost?

There is no required cost, but voluntary donations of any amount are welcome and appreciated. The suggested donation for seniors who are 60 and over is $5, and it is $6 for those under 60; however, an honor system is in effect and no explanation is required if someone 60 years or older who wants a meal is not able to donate.
